Windows Defender was earlier referred to as Microsoft Anti Spyware. This Microsoft software product was launched to prevent and remove any spyware in Windows.

While scanning the computer the windows defender will analyze all the areas of the computer system to Bypass Bitdefender Total Security check the presence of spyware and other Malware presence which may damage the computer.

There are two ways to remove defender from the computer. One is manual and the other automatic. The manual method is difficult because it requires that you work around the registry. You have to examine the LOCAL_HKEY_USER folder and look for LNK, DLL files related with virus. Then you need to block all the websites related to the spyware, thereby removing the physical files associated to the software. Normally, the 'add or remove function', will not work with spyware like this, since it is blocked.

The automatic removal of windows defender is different. In manual method, there can be a disaster while editing the system registry, so you have to be really cautious when you are uninstalling using this method. On these grounds, the automatic method is preferred.

To uninstall this in windows XP, first click the "start" button and then go to the control panel and from there double click "Add/Remove Programs" menu. Look for the windows defender list and double click it. Confirm the removal of the defender from the system. Wait till the auto unistallation completes. Now restart the computer.

While trying to uninstall defender from the Windows may cause errors. In Windows 7, you can uninstall Windows Defender, by typing services.msc in Start menu search box. You will see in the services list. Right click the name and select 'Properties'. In the 'General' tab of the window, select Disabled and click apply. Another option is to open the program through the Start menu. Go to the Tools > Administrator section. You can see the Use this program checkbox. Uncheck it and press the 'Apply' button to apply this change.
