A pristine amalgamation of golden sun-looked sand and blue seawater, Khor Fakkan is a stunning hamlet in the UAE. It is the perfect spot to unwind and relax.

Sharjah’s investment and development authority Shurooq has announced plans to revitalise the three-kilometre beach to create a tourist destination. The first phase includes an amphitheatre, walkways, sports courts, picnic areas and playgrounds.

1. Snoopy Island

If you are looking for a getaway from the hustle and bustle of Dubai, head to Khor Fakkan tour. The place is not only known for its picturesque beauty but it is also home to a range of water sports that will have your adrenaline pumping.

One of the most popular destinations in the area is Snoopy Island. It is a small 120mX80m island that is named after Snoopy the cartoon character.

This place is known for its beautiful coastline and shallow, pristine waters. You can take a stroll along the beach or visit Snoopy's Tropical Bar for some refreshing drinks.

Another option is to go snorkelling here, which will give you a chance to get up close and personal with the underwater world. The shallow water and mild currents make it ideal for people of all ages.

Snorkelling is a great way to experience the marine life of Snoopy Island and it's only a short distance away from the mainland. The Sandy Beach Resort offers a snorkelling day pass for 105 AED/weekdays and 130 AED on weekends.

2. Al Rafisah Dam

Al Rafisah Dam is one of the most beautiful destinations to visit in Khor Fakkan. It’s a picturesque lake surrounded by mountains that offer an excellent opportunity for water sports like kayaking and pedal boating.

The dam also features an artificial waterfall at a height of 55 metres with lush greenery surrounding it. This waterfall cascades into the blue waters of the reservoir making it a sight to behold.

This place is a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and can be an enjoyable experience for visitors of all ages. Its 730m long walkway is a great way to take in the beauty of the waterfall and the soothing sound of lapping water.

The dam is also a popular destination for families with young children as it offers outdoor kids’ play areas and restaurants. There are also shops where you can buy artistic handicrafts and souvenirs that make for lovely showpieces.

3. Khorfakkan Heritage Village

Located along the coast of Khor Fakkan, this heritage village offers a glimpse into the past. The site includes villages, watchtowers, and farms.

The village also presents hand-held implements and household items, along with models of traditional homes. This is a great place to learn about the culture of the UAE and get a feel for how people lived in the past.

There is also an old mosque, and houses made from stones and mud. This is a really interesting and Instagram-worthy attraction that you should definitely visit!

During my trip to the UAE, I took a day out of the city to explore the beauty of Khor Fakkan. It is a small city, but it is definitely worth the visit!

4. Shees Park

The UAE is largely known as a land of deserts but the country has been recently focusing on creating spaces filled with lush greenery. Shees Park, a brand-new attraction in the UAE, is now open to visitors, nestled amongst the Hajar Mountains in Khor Fakkan!

The park features a 25-metre-high waterfall that cascades into a pretty lake. It’s a wonderful addition to the landscape and is sure to take your breath away!

It’s also a beautiful place to picnic with family and friends! There’s a designated barbecue area, but be aware that it can get occupied quickly.

There are lots of shaded seating areas, making it an ideal spot to enjoy a fun outdoor picnic. You can also grab a bite to eat from the cafe, which has a variety of delicious food options!

The park also has an amphitheater that can seat up to 70 people. You can catch some exciting shows while you’re there!
